Welcome! Thank you for your interest in SGC’s Community Resilience Centers (CRC) grant program. 

The California Strategic Growth Council’s (SGC) Community Resilience Centers (CRC) Program funds the planning and construction or retrofits of community serving facilities that provide shelter and resources to mitigate the public health impacts of extreme heat and other emergency situations exacerbated by climate change, as well as year-round community programs and services.

SGC will award CRC grants through a competitive process.  For Round 2 of the CRC Program, Lead Applicants may only apply for one grant type and may request funds within the following award ranges:

• Approximately $5 million is available for Planning Grant awards, applicants may request between $100,000 to $500,000. 
• Approximately $50 million is available for Implementation Grant awards, applicants may request between $1 million to $10 million.

 

Deadlines: 

To be considered for a CRC Implementation or Planning Grant, applicants must fill out an application through our online submission platform, Submittable.  

• The application period for Planning Grants will begin on July 2, 2026, and close on September 4, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. 
• The application period for Implementation Grants will begin on July 2, 2026, and close on September 30, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The due date for the Implementation Grant Application has been amended to September 30, 2026 to accommodate observance of California Native American Day. This due date is reflected in the Amended Notice of Funding Availability, updated August 31, 2026.

Instructions: 

• To apply for a CRC grant, please create a free Submittable account. You may save drafts of your work as you work on your application.
• Submittable works best on Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported. Please ensure you use a supported browser. 
• Once you begin an application, you can select “Invite Collaborators” to invite partners to work on your application. 
• You may edit your application prior to the application deadline. When ready, please select “submit.” 
• If you change grant types (e.g. switch from Implementation to Planning), you will need to begin a completely new application in Submittable. 
• Submittable will email notifications about your application and account updates. Please safelist notification emails from Submittable and check your listed email address linked to your Submittable account regularly.
